Apples and Squash

5 lbs Butternut squash
4 baking apples
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 Tbs flour
2 tsp salt
1 tsp mace

Cut squash in half, remove seeds and fibers; pare and cut in 1/2 inch slices. Pare and core apples; cut in 1/2 inch slices. Combine the melted butter, sugar, flour, salt and mace. Layer one half the squash in the bottom of the removable liner; top with one half the apple slices and one half the sugar mixture. Repeat layers. Place in base.

Cover and cook on auto 5 hours, low 6-7 hours or high 3 1/2 hours.

Tomato Cabbage Soup

2 Tbs butter
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
2/3 cup chopped celery
2 14-oz cans tomatoes
6 cups grated cabbage
1 cup green beans, cut into bits
1 1/2 cups sliced carrot
1/4-1/2 cup chili sauce (to spice it up)
1/2 tsp salt
8 cups water
2 Tbs beef bouillon
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp basil

Melt butter in large pot. Saute onions and celery until soft. Add onions and celery and remaining ingredients to crockpot. Cook all day on low, stirring occasionally if you're at home.

Crockpot Bow Tie Pasta

1-1/2 lb hamburger
1 med onion, chopped
1 minced garlic clove
2 8-oz cans tomato sauce
1 14-1/2 oz can stewed tomatoes, cut up
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp italian seasoning
Salt/pepper to taste
1 16-oz pkg bow tie pasta
1 10-oz pkg frozen chopped spinach
1-1/2 cups (6 oz) shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

In a skillet, cook hamburger, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Transfer to crockpot. Stir in the tomato sauce, tomatoes (cut up first) and seasonings. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until bubbly. To get ready to serve, cook and drain pasta and thaw and drain well spinach. Increase heat to high; stir in pasta, spinach and cheeses. Cover and cook for 10 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted.
